It’s a busy month here at The Daily Varnish! Earlier in the month my nails appeared in All You magazine. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, my nails are also in the latest issue of First For Women magazine.
Interestingly enough, the magazine took a poll of their readers and 56% said they would try sweater nails.
If you agree with the 56%, or if you are simply interested in finding out more information on my manicure that is featured in the magazine, you can find out all the details in my DIY Velvet Manicure post.
As always, thank you to all of you who are accompanying me along this fun journey!
Y’all! I’m so excited about this! Several months ago All You magazine contacted me regarding a technique I’ve used in past manicures to create an ombre effect using an eyeshadow sponge tip applicator. They asked me to create a manicure for the magazine. That manicure can be found in the March 2014 issue which is on […] Continue reading →
Along time ago I did a manicure where I mixed a textured polish (JulieG Blueberry Fizz) and a metallic polish (Essie No Place Like Chrome). I loved the end result. There’s something about mixing the two extreme ends of nail polish textures spectrum (I just totally made that a thing) I think not only looks […] Continue reading →
I’m trying my best to stay calm right now. I really am. BUT OMG IT’S GAMEDAY!! AUBURN PLAYS FOR THE NATIONAL TITLE TONIGHT!!!! If you are even a casual reader of this blog then you probably already know that like most of my family, my college degree is from Auburn. We are HUGE Auburn football […] Continue reading →
This is my favorite post of the year! I love looking back over the year and picking my favorite polishes released in 2013. Of course, I always have a difficult time settling on just 10. I started out with 18 contenders but did manage to dwindle it down to 10. The biggest surprise about this […] Continue reading →
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2014! Every New Year since long before I was born my family has a traditional, Southern meal on New Year’s Day. This includes essentials such as ham, collards, black eyed peas and of course, corn bread. But before we move on to the new year, I wanted to wrap up […] Continue reading →
Apparently it’s the first day of winter. Not that I’ve noticed. As I type this it is 60 degrees outside here in Charlotte, North Carolina. But hey, that’s how I like my winters anyway! Anyway. On to the nail polish! There isn’t that much difference between the colors that are popular during fall and winter. […] Continue reading →
IT’S IRON BOWL DAY!!!!!!!! Unless you are from Alabama or have some connection with Auburn or the University of Alabama you’re probably going to think I’m a bit crazy after this post. But I’m totally ok with that. The Iron Bowl (aka the annual meeting of Auburn and Alabama’s football teams….) is being played today […] Continue reading →
Nail art that requires special brushes is a fairly recent addition to my nail polish world. About 6 months ago I ordered a nail art brush set from eBay. I was so excited when they arrived I started using them right away! Then I realized I had no earthly idea how to clean them. After […] Continue reading →
It’s the first day of fall! It’s finally cooling down here in Charlotte but summer is still lingering. Despite that, I have been rocking fall nail polish colors. Now, I’m not one that follows seasonal color rules. If I want to wear hot pink nail polish in November, I will. But, I do like to […] Continue reading →
