Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro – Love Hangover

deborah-lippmann-love-hangover-bottleWhere does the time go? Fall is slipping through my fingers and I’d be doing you a complete disservice if I didn’t review some of the beauties from Deborah Lippmann’s Fall 2016 Collection: After Midnight.

One of my favorite things about Deborah Lippmann is that she shares the inspiration behind each collection and I adore the inspiration for this collection: Daring. Mysterious. Indulgent. The core collection has four polishes: Love Hangover, After Midnight, Wild Thing, and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. Two polishes are Sephora Exclusives: Out of the Woods & All Night Long.

Alli and I split the collection and I scored Love Hangover, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, and Out of The Woods. Truth: I’ve worn Smoke Gets in Your Eyes more times than I can count. Out of the Woods was my favorite song from 1989, and I was least excited about Love Hangover. I put off trying it forever.

Shame on me. SHAME. This polish is amazing. Color wise, I was sure this was a few years too late match for Never Glum Plum / Smokin’ Hot / Grey Area – but, no. Officially, Love Hangover is full coverage plum mauve. That works. It kind of rolls off the tongue, no? (FYI: I just deleted the words: moody dusty purple with brown undertones).

The formula is top-notch. This is the first time I’ve tried a polish from the gel lab pro line and I am obsessed. It’s so smooth and perfect in all ways – I used two coats. I’ll be putting this into regular rotation until Spring.

Unlike my post, it’s not too late to pick this up this beauty. Each polish retails for $20. You can pick up Love Hangover at Nordstrom, Barney’s, and Nieman Marcus.  However, if you buy all 4 core collection polishes from the Deborah Lippmann website, the cost is $64. That’s $16 per polish with free shipping OR you can opt for the mini set available on HSN for $34.50.

I’ll include a few swatches below for your viewing pleasure.

  1. I think this would transition well to winter, say with a few white or gold snowflake decals, or a golden quarter moon… Anything gold would suit this so well!

Anyone else out there been around long enough to remember the Diana Ross song by the same name? Long live disco 😉
