essie Resort Collection 2016

essie Resort Collection 2016I do believe spring is here. To stay. At least in Charlotte. There are even a few flowers blooming. Of course that means it’s time for the essie Resort Collection.

Historically the Resort collection is my favorite essie collection of the year. So I went ahead and ordered the mini set so I could try all 4 polishes. And to be honest…I’m a bit disappointed by this collection.

Under the jump is my review of all four polishes. You can pick up the Resort collection at Ulta.

essie Nama-Stay the NightNama-Stay the Night: This is by far my favorite polish from the 2016 resort collection. essie describes Nama-Stay the Night as a Goa blue which is actually pretty accurate. It’s a nice medium blue that’s neither too bright or too dull. It’s absolutely perfect for this time of year.

The formula on this one is pretty good though I did need to use 3 coats.

essie Delhi DanceDelhi Dance: Certainly there can’t be a resort collection without a pink polish! One of my favorite OPI polishes is Lunch at the Delhi so I was hopeful for Delhi Dance.

As you’ve probably gathered this collection has an Indian theme. essie’s description is a silky, sari pink. Which doesn’t really mean much. This is a cool toned pink creme; a classic pink but not my favorite. However, it was good for my skintone.

The formula was great on this one. I only used two coats in my swatches.

essie Going GuruGoing Guru: Oh hello gorgeous. Going Guru is the namesake polish for this collection. And I must admit, I love essie’s description. They describe Going Guru has a meditative mint green. In an odd way that perfectly describes this soft, mint green creme.

While I adore this color the formula was a pain. It was a bit on the thin side and three coats was a must.

essie Taj-Ma-HaulTaj-Ma-Haul: Kudos to the super clever name of this polish. But what is this polish doing in a Resort collection? It’s like offering me a PSL in March. DO NOT WANT.

That being said….I’d dig this polish in the fall. Maybe.

essie describes Taj-Ma-Haul as a spicy marigold apricot.

It’s a little brown for my personal preference. But the formula is lovely.

  1. The blue is quite nice. I’m not familiar with ‘goa’ blue, but it’s quite lovely. I agree with you that the collection isn’t especially remarkable, but if a person doesn’t already have a delicate blue, this one will do nicely. Lovely swatches!

  2. I hope you both are doing well. I have been checking for new blog posts-hope you have not stopped because this is my favorite polish blog!!

What do you think?
