Zoya – Yves

Zoya - Yves BottleGood morning, beauties!

Today is best kind of Monday – I have a snow day! I’ve been home for 4 days. Yesterday my over ambitious neighbors were digging out there cars, but I didn’t want to mess up my nails. Maybe I’ll get around to it today, but I’m really hoping for another snow day tomorrow.

I chose Zoya Yves for my snow day mani. This is my 2nd polish from the 2015 Matte Velvets. I really just need to order them all and save on shipping.

Yves is a deep sapphire blue with beautiful royal blue shimmer. I love it. I actually really wanted Alli to get this, but she hesitated and I’m in love.

The downside of this beauty is the insanely high chance of stained blueberry nails. So. Please wear a base coat. I used the Wet n Wild Matte Topcoat as my basecoat to help smooth out imperfections and ridges. The first coat gives you full coverage but it’s more of a royal blue. I ended up going with a 2-3 coats to darken it up.

When I go back and forth between the Matte Velvet collections, I just can’t figure out why they’d do another red, green, and purple. Maybe I’d feel differently if I didn’t already have Posh, Savita, and Veruschka. I can almost understand the red and green – release around Christmas… They’re all beautiful, but I would be over the moon for a berry pink with gold shimmer. Think: Matte Velvet meets China Glaze Strawberry Fields.

Each Matte Velvet polish retails for $10. You can buy Zoya nail polish directly from Zoya’s website. My Ulta also carries new Zoya collections and when I went this past weekend, they had a full display! Of course, a quick search on amazon gets you prices as low as $4 (and strangely as high as $50). So many options!

I liked this color a lot too, but it stained my cuticles and fingers horribly upon removal, like I’ve never seen! Kinda a deal breaker.

I had to do some clean up on my fingers when I was done removing it, but I got it all off relatively easily, thankfully. It’d be a deal breaker for me too.

My nails themselves were fine(I ALWAYS wear base coat.)

What do you think?
