Today marks the winter solstice officially ushering in winter. It’s been unseasonably warm in Charlotte this fall but we’re supposed to have winter. I am bracing myself.
The good news is, as always, there are some pretty nail polish trend to get us through the cold winter months. My top 5 current polish trends are listed under the jump.
Let me know if I missed a trend!
Blackened Purple Sparkle: This is a trend I am super excited about. I love dark, purple polishes. Both essie (with Haute Tub) and OPI (with Cosmo With A Twist) have polishes like this in their current collections. What is different about these is the base is blackened but the purple sparkle still stands out.
Storm Gray: Gray. It’s a color that, seemingly, is always in style. The winter grays take a more cool tone (meaning they lean more blue than yellow). If you’re looking for something new check out Barielle Feathered Slippers. But, the nice thing about this trend is you likely already have something like this in your collection. A favorite of mine is China Glaze Concrete Catwalk.
Blinged Out Blue: To me, at least, blue is a bit of an odd trend for winter. But this season’s blue polishes are so much fun I don’t even care! These polishes are essentially blue +. Meaning, yes, they’re blue but they have something special. essie Bell-Bottom Blues is a gorgeous medium blue with a fantastic metallic finish. OPI Give Me Space is a deep blue with scattered holographic glitter.
Classic Red: While classic red polish is never truly out of style it’s making a big impact this season. I adore red nails. They aren’t fussy and always look chic. essie Altitude Attitude is a great option from the newest essie collection. But, I’ve really been loving Sally Hansen Rhapsody Red as of late.
Black: I KNOW. How….boring? Basic? Odd? But, fact of the matter is, black is timeless. And we’ve come to a point where that even includes black nail polish. There are a ton of black nail polish options out there but my all time favorite black polish is JulieG Black Sheep.
