essie Mademoiselle The Daily Varnish

essie Mademoiselle

essie Mademoiselle The Daily VarnishOh this polish.

Recently essie released their 2015 bridal collection (including a freaking adorable mini set). But in the spirit of something old and something new they also came out with an essie classics bridal collection. The classics collection includes 6 of essie’s most iconic sheer shades that are among the most popular bridal looks.

Mademoiselle made the cut so I decided to revisit the polish.

Years ago I picked up Mademoiselle because the of the ads. They read “Whenever I wear Mademoiselle, I get a whiff of Paris.” Um, yes.

Mademoiselle is a very sheer light pink creme. Essie calls it “the most classic grown-up pink.” Well, if that’s the case, I don’t want to grow up! This is definitely not my thing.

Application can be a nightmare if you aren’t careful. The formula is thin and can be runny. I used three coats in my swatches and the look is still quite sheer.

For my skintone this is a fantastic I’m wearing nail polish but I’m not nail polish. But I can’t say that’s a look I’m going for. Ever.

But, if that is your thing, and if I’m being honest we should probably all have a no nail polish look polish in our collection, Mademoiselle is super easy to find. It’s available at any and all drugstores as well as on Amazon.

There are swatches under the jump!

I’ve never been a big Essie fan because I find the quality way too variable… about half the shades I try are streaky, which has been the case since I was a teenager, which was many many moons ago, LOL. But Mademoiselle is hands down my favorite sheer milky pinks, Iooks so natural and polished, and without a streak in sight. It looks like the shade pulls yellow on you, on me the shade looks true to the bottle, just more sheer.

essie has gotten much more consistent with their formulas recently.

If I could achieve the bottle color with this polish I would be fine with it but it’s just not flattering on me. At all!

most underwhelming, disappointing essie polish! ok to use as a base coat but why spend over 8$ for that!

Exactly! But it’s a super popular essie polish. I do not get it.

Its too sheer. I’ve always preferred Essie Ballet Slipper for pale pinks. Or OPI’s Passion.

I need to check out Ballet Slippers. I’ve seen so many people recommend that polish!

Thanks for your review. I love the colour, and I think it would look great on my nails, but like you I don’t really want a polish this sheer. I’ll check it out if I can find it, though, and see what I think.

That was my thing; the color isn’t so bad I just want a tad more pigmentation!

What do you think?
