Today I have another gorgeous polish from OPI’s Hawaii Collection! I’ve had the this purple on my mind for few weeks and I finally broke down and ordered two more Hawaiian beauties. Hello Hawaii Ya? arrived on Monday along with My Gecko Does Tricks.
This polish is SO perfect. I rarely get really excited about purples but I’m crushin’. This dusky purple creme has been on my fingers and toes all week. I can’t get enough. The formula is magnificent. I applied two medium coats for my swatches, but some of you may be able to get away with just one coat.
Since the Hawaii Collection is OPI’s traditional big Spring/Summer release, these lovelies should be readily available for the next few months. Just swing by your favorite OPI retailer to find them: ULTA or Macy’s to name a few. I found it on Amazon for 6.75! Hello Hawaii Ya? is also a part of OPI’s GelColor line if that’s your thing.
Swatches & Comparison to Parlez-Vous OPI? below! Take a peak!
Everyone seems to be on this never ending quest to find a dupe for Parlez-Vous OPI? In case you missed it, Alli did a comparison between Parlez-Vous OPI? & deborah lippmann Love in the Dunes a few weeks ago.
Whenever I see a dusty purple I wonder how it would compare to Parlez-Vous OPI? because everyone seems to be on this never ending quest to find a dupe for the lovely dusty purple from the 2008 France Collection. I was actually really surprised at how similar these polishes were in the bottle – especially when they were just sitting on my table side by side.
I was feeling creative (for me) so I grabbed my some of my Nail Vinyls and decided to do a subtle tonal chevron & stars mani instead of a traditional comparison. On my chevron nails Hello Hawaii Ya? is my base (two stripes) topped with Parlez-Vous OPI? (three stripes). The stars are also Parlez-Vous OPI?
Excuse my polish covered bottle, I should clean it off but I think it adds character. Also, I really love the way the stars turned out.
Final Verdict: Sadly, these are not dupes BUT though the color difference is very easy to spot in my pictures, I’m not sure anyone would even notice that my nails weren’t one color unless I said I said Hey, look at my purple & purple nails and wiggled my fingers in their face. Because that wouldn’t be awkward…
Hello Hawaii Ya is a darker blue based purple and Parlez-Vous OPI? is a lighter, more grey, and red based. I love them both and I think they both make great transitional polishes. I see PVO fitting in quite well in the fall and HHY is great for breaking out of your winter shades into more playful spring and summer polishes.
