Essie Room With a View

Essie Room With a View COVERWhen I was studying abroad in southern Italy I fell in love with Florence. I love everything about that city; the architecture, the food, the people. Even the shopping. Sometime not that long after I got back to the States I ran across E.M. Forester’s novel A Room With a View. I immediately fell in love with the characters and the fact that much of the story takes place in Florence didn’t hurt. Later, I learned there is also an Oscar winning film based on the book which is fantastic (this movie is currently on Netflix….just FYI).

Anyhow, that was all a long winded way of explaining how this polish ended up in my collection as it’s not exactly the type of polish I normally go for. But, with the deborah lippmann Whisper collection and nude/barely polished nails being all the rage right now I decided to revisit Room With a View.

Room With a View is a very pale peachy pink with subtle golden shimmer. I used three coats in my swatches and the finished look is a nice, understated, barely there color. The formula is a bit thin so careful application is a must.

While Room With a View is currently on trend it’s still  not my favorite look. But, I can appreciate understated nails. They certainly have their place. And if this is the kind of look you’re going for Room With a View is lovely; the shimmer really adds something a little extra to this polish.

Room With a View is pretty easy to find in drugstores and is also readily available on ebay.

As always, there are swatches under the jump.

I love understated nails at least as much as I love statement nails. This is a delicate and pretty option, though I wish it had a tinge more gold in it, as it stands I think it might almost give me that “yellow stained nail” look that I fear and dread, even though it doesn’t look that way on you.

That’s exactly why I tend to stay away from warmer sheer nudes. It’s a delicate balance, for sure.

What a beautiful polish. Thanks for sharing your experience with it, and the advice you give.

What do you think?
