Perfect Pair: Barielle Rain in Spain & China Glaze Don’t Be A Flake

Perfect Pair Barielle Rain in Spain and China Glaze Don't Be A FlakeChristmas is in less than a week and here I have a completely non-Christmas or even the least bit festive manicure. But I just love this combination of polishes. I can’t help myself.

Barielle Rain in Spain is a really gorgeous polish I actually wore quite a bit during the fall. I like that it’s a bit of an unexpected color and it plays well against darker clothing.

Anyway. I wanted to add some sparkle to my Rain in Spain manicure and I thought the colors in China Glaze Don’t Be A Flake would look nice with the periwinkle.

Don’t Be A Flake is one of those glitters that requires using a toothpick and adding glitter to the nail one by one. After a lot of patience and thought went in to the glitter placement for this manicure and I have to say I really like how it turned out. The idea was to sort of fade the glitter from the base of the nail to the tip.

Sometimes it’s just nice to do something completely out of season. Because really, rules were meant to be broken!

There are swatches under the jump.

  1. This reminds me of a vinyl raincoat, or a plastic bubble umbrella. I can’t even figure why, but it just says ‘rain’ to me. Not a combo I would typically pick out, but it works. Maybe for a few months from now?

What do you think?
