SinfulColors – Mystery Moonshine

SinfulColors - Mystery MoonshineHello, Hello! Halloween is just around the corner – horray! You have less than a week to finalize those costume plans! I have to admit, I’m not much of a costume kind of person – it’s just not my thing. I do, however, like to embrace the holiday in more subtle ways – like on my nails!

SinfulColors released a darling trio of new polishes for Halloween: Mystery Moonshine, Cauldron Couture, and Splatter Spell. My eye was drawn to Cauldron Couture and Mystery Moonshine, but I ultimately just bought Mystery Moonshine.

Mystery Moonshine has orange, green, and indigo glitter shards set in a clear base. It looks so dark in the bottle that I assumed it was set in a black jelly base – oops! In the end, I’m glad it’s set in a clear base – it gives you so much more freedom in terms of layering.

I chose to layer this polish over OPI’s Skating on Thin Iceland. I wasn’t thrilled with the results – I should’ve chosen a purple with less red.  Yesterday, I tried it over OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls and LOVED it.

I used two coats for my swatches with very minimal glitter placement issues. I dabbed over a few bald spots and was all set. I really think it’s adorable.

The SinfulColors Halloween displays have been up for  a while at Rite Aid, Target, and Walgreens. SC retails for 1.99 but I happened to pick it up during one of the every so often .99 sales at Walgreen’s – a total steal.

What are your Halloween plans? I’ll probably stay low key. I may visit my new favorite place in Richmond: Boho Cycle Studio and then throw on a scary movie.

  1. I got this during the 99 cent sale, too, and I’m currently wearing it over a mix of colors. Green, purple, and black. I love it over all of them!
