Essie Partner in Crime

Essie Partner in Crime COVEROk, I know brown polish are a somewhat controversial topic. Some people hate them and cannot understand why one would wear such a color on their nails. Others love them and think they are a chic, dark polish option for cooler weather. I happen to fall into the latter. I adore dark brown polishes and am thrilled there are so many brown polishes options in collections right now!

Partner in Crime is from Essie’s Fall 2014 Dress to Kilt collection and is a lovely dark chocolate creme. This polish is dark and looks almost black in some lighting though is not near as harsh and a black polish.

The formula while super pigmented can be difficult to work with. This was almost a one coater but the formula is a bit runny.

I know you’re wondering how this compares to other browns in fall collections. I must say I prefer Partner in Crime to OPI How Great is Your Dane?. Partner in Crime is richer and more or a true brown. I also find Partner in Crime less offensive than say Color Club Fondue for Two.

The Dressed to Kilt collection is currently available at Ulta as well as on Amazon. Style Cartel is included in the Color Cube mini set for the Dressed to Kilt collection as well.

As always, that are swatches under the jump!

PS: I used Partner in Crime under OPI My Voice is a Little Norse. It was MAGIC.

  1. I’ve always loved dark brown nails, I think they look elegant and boho at the same time, without ever looking too garish or juvenile, for those who like a more professional look during the work week. Brown coordinates with most outfits, too. I keep my nails short, and think brown (much like deep red) looks really great on short nails. Not crazy about this particular brown, looks warmer in the bottle than it does on the nail, prefer the bottle color, but your mani looks gorgeous as always!

  2. I absolutely LOVE how you describe this polish as ‘less offensive’ than another. That’s priceless, especially when we’re talking about painting our claws! Meow! 🙂
