OPI My Dogsled is a Hybrid

OPI My Dogsled is a Hybrid COVERJust for the record I have no interest in dogsleds. Even if it is a hybrid. Dogsleds mean snow and well, I don’t do snow. (I said that in my best Alabama accent). But, if I did have a (hybrid) dogsled it might be the color of this polish.

My Dogsled is a Hybrid is, obviously, from OPI’s fall 2014 Nordic collection. OPI categorizes My Dogsled is a Hybrid as a sea green. It’s very Mermaid’s Tears, SinfulColors Open Seas, Orly Ancient Jade-esque. And while that’s not a bad thing (I love those polishes!) My Dogsled is a Hybrid feels a bit done. Or outdated.

Granted, colors like this had previously been marketed for warm weather seasons so having this in a fall collection is a bit different. Though, this is not a polish I would have picked up if it wasn’t included in the mini set.

The formula was just ok. I used three coats in my swatches.

If you don’t have a polish in your collection similar to this color My Dogsled is a Hybrid may be a polish to consider. But, this is a color that was extremely popular several years ago. If you already have a similar polish it’s time to get some more use out of it!

The OPI Nordic collection is currently available at Ulta as is the mini set (though the mini set is a bit less expensive on Amazon). My Dogsled is a Hybrid is also available on Amazon.

There are, of course, swatches under the jump!

  1. LOL, I’m wearing a near dupe of this color right now… Ginger and Liz’s “Boy Toy,” which is maybe a just a hair paler and has a speck of truly invisible white shimmer that gives it a nice softness and depth. I agree, it’s a color that’s been done before, and in my opinion it’s been done better… but since aqua is my favorite color, variations on it just never get old for me. I don’t get the name of this polish though, and I don’t get how it could be even remotely inspired by fall… it shouts spring and summer to me. I live in Las Vegas, where it’s still most decidedly summer weather in late August!

What do you think?
