NYC – Sweet Melon

NYC - Sweet Melon Can you believe it? This is my very first NYC polish! Alli is a big NYC fan, so was really excited to give them a try.

Sweet Melon is from NYC’s Brazil inspired City Samba Collection. Yes, the very same collection that has a perfect dupe for Pacific Blue. Go and see for yourself! Alli reviewed Ocean Blue a few days ago – complete with comparisons. If OPI hadn’t already done a Brazil collection, I’d probably be more enthused, but with Brazil hosting The World Cup, I totally understand the hype over all things Brazilian.

I’m very pleased with my first NYC experience. Sweet Melon is scrumptious. It reminds me of orange sherbet. It has some very subtle shimmer that I actually didn’t notice at first. I really like when polishes have a touch of shimmer – I think it adds depth. I used three coats and I’m pleased with the results. I think this is a great summer polish, and looks fantastic with a tan. Thumbs up.

So, now I’m kind of chomping at the bit to try some more NYC polishes! Do you have any suggestions or favorites I should try?

  1. Lovely, its very similar in shade to one of the bleacher neons from Maybelline we got in the UK. Its now up there in my top 10 – I adore shades like this!

  2. It’s really really gorgeous. if this “delicate orange sorbet with a bit of shimmer” shade wasn’t already over-represented in my stash, I’d have to get this one!… despite the ugly bottle. Hey, bottle design counts too, LOL.

  3. I am crazy about melons but can’t imagine this shade on my nails… Don’t they have a melon rind colour in their collection? 😉

What do you think?
