Nail Art: German Flag Manicure

Germany World Cup ManicureToday is the final of the World Cup! It’s an exciting day just because of that but even more exciting is Germany is in the final. During the 2006 World Cup I was in Germany and I totally caught soccer fever. Ever since I’ve always cheered on Germany so hopefully they can pull off a win today!

I’m going out to a local bar to watch the game with some friends so, of course, I needed a perfect manicure for the occasion. I ended up doing an updated version of my EuroCup 2012 Germany nail art.

Essie Over the Top is my go to black nail polish when Germany is playing. I picked it up in 2008 when Germany was playing in the Euro Cup and have worn it during every international tournament sense. Have to keep the tradition alive!

So for this manicure I did all my nails Essie Over The Top except for the ring finger nail which I turned into the flag accent nail.

For the flag I started with deborah lippmann Walking on Sunshine. I then added wet n wild Red Red and Barielle Black Rose covering about a third of the nail with each. I initially just did that free handed then went back with a nail art brush and straightened the edges.

The flag could also be done with tape (which would have been my preferred method…) I just didn’t have time to wait for the polish to dry between colors!

I love the way this turned out! Hopefully my nails will bring good luck to the Germany team.

There are swatches under the jump.

It worked! Congrats Germany! It was a great game and we were exhausted just watching. I really need to pick up WOS even though yellows don’t look great on me. This’ll be fun to try for our local German fest in December. BTW, what is that green thing??

It’s a noise maker that Brazil made for the World Cup 🙂

What do you think?
