Nail Art: Easy American Flag Nails

Easy American Flag Nail Art coverOnce the 4th of July holiday passes I always feel like the best part of summer is over. Especially when I had such a fun 4th of July weekend!

I spent the weekend in the North Carolina mountains enjoying the beautiful scenery and the amazing weather. But really, the best part of the weekend was probably my nails.

For the long weekend I did an easy interpretation of the American flag. I absolutely loved this manicure and got a ton of compliments on it. My waitress at Woodland’s Barbecue even asked me if I had my nails done!

To do this manicure I used Milani Blue Zoom, Ulta Snow White, Barielle Miami Heat and FingerPaints Red, White and Hue. The nail art tools I used were a small dotting tool and nail striping tape.

I started with Milani Blue Zoom as a base on my ring and pinky nails and Ulta Snow White as a base on my middle, pointer and thumb nails. After letting that dry completely I added FingerPaints Red, White and Hue to the base of just my thumb nail. For the stripes I put the striping tape on my nails then did a quick coat of Barielle Miami Heat. The key to get crisp lines it to make sure the white base is completely dry and to remove the tape immediately after adding the red polish.

For the dotted nails (much easier than stars!) I used a small dotting tool and Ulta Snow White.

Note: On my other hand I switched it up a bit. I used blue on the thumb, pointer and middles nails and did the stripes on the ring and pinky nails.

This was so easy to do and as I said, I got so many compliments on my nails over the weekend!

There are, of course, swatches under the jump.

I hope everyone had a happy 4th of July!

  1. I really enjoy your manicures, opinions, and witty comments on polishes. But I must say you hit a home run with the TB taco-mani picture. 🙂
