NYC Carnival Red

NYC Carnival Red CoverIn previous posts I have talked about how I consider NYC one of the most underrated not just polish brands, but makeup brands in general. I use so many NYC makeup products on a regular basis including their bronzer and mascara.

NYC’s newest polish collection; City Samba, is a limited edition collection inspired by the vibrancy of Brazil.

NYC has two polish lines. The polishes in the City Samba collection are from the In A New York Minute line that tout highly pigmented color and are specially formulated to dry in lightening speed. The formula is nail strengthening containing magnesium, iron, copper and calcium.

In the past I have used polishes from the In A New York Minute polish line (Apple Fizz from last spring is a favorite!) but after reading all those claims my expectations were high!

Carnival Red is a bright, almost tomato red creme. The orange undertones are very apparent making Carnival Red a wonderful summer red.

As NYC claimed, the formula is highly pigmented. I used two coats in my swatches. Regarding the drying time; I didn’t find this polish dried any faster than other polishes but I didn’t find it dried slowly either. If that makes sense.

There’s nothing more classic than a red manicure so I am a huge red polish fan. If you’re looking for a summer appropriate red I’d highly recommend this one. At $1.99 it’s a steal!

Make sure to check out the swatches under the jump.

  1. That’s a beautiful red. Not like fire engine red though, it’s more warm and orangey. this is a great color for summer. Funny, I never thought of red as a summer color before, but this is such a warm shade. I love NYC cosmetics and especially the polishes. I will be looking for this collection.

    1. I got really into what I call summer reds a few years ago. It’s a nice change from all the pinks you generally see during this time of year.

What do you think?
