Nail Art: World Cup Manicure

World Cup Nail ArtOk, seriously. Whoever decided the shapes on a soccer ball should be pentagons in the BANE of my existence right now!

But anyway. The World Cup starts today! I’m so excited. During the 2006 World Cup I was in Germany and I totally caught the fever.

The United States doesn’t play until Monday (USA! USA!) but I figured since today marks the start of the World Cup I’d go ahead and do a manicure to celebrate.

I wish I could tell you there’s an easy way to get a soccer ball pattern on the nail but sadly, there really isn’t. My design certainly isn’t perfect but I do think it looks like a soccer ball.

There is, on the other hand, an easy way to do an American flag. All you need is red, white and blue nail polish and nail striping tape (which is SUPER inexpensive on Amazon). Let the white base dry entirely then apply the striping tape. Do one coat of red over the striping tape and remove immediately. Add the blue using a small nail art brush and BAM. You have an American flag. I added a bit of silver glitter to mimic the stars.

Below the jump are additional swatches of this manicure along with a list of the polishes I used.

Hopefully I’m not the only one excited about the World Cup. If I am, no worries, TDV will be back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow with a review of Strut Your Stuff; a new polish from Essie!
