deborah lippmann Video Killed the Radio Star

deborah lippmann Video Killed the Radio Star coverThe deborah lippman 80’s Rewind collection has me rocking out to all kinds of 80’s music lately. Video Killed the Radio Star is no exception! I mean, Video Killed the Radio Star is the music video that launched MTV. And who wasn’t obsessed with MTV as a teenager?

Anyway! deborah lippmann describes Video Killed the Radio Star as a bombdiggity blue.

Yeah, I’m not really sure where to go with that. I would describe this polish as a bright, medium blue creme. The color is lovely and while bright it’s not overly in your face.

The formula is, of course, wonderful. I used just two coats in my swatches.

One thing to be aware of is this polish WILL STAIN. Make sure to use a base coat if you don’t want to end up with smurf nails.

While I like this polish, and the name is fabulous (though the song totally gets stuck in my head…), the blue is a little Florida Gators blue for my liking. As an Auburn girl it makes me cringe a bit.

Despite that, this polish is lovely. Proof is in the swatches under the jump.

The  80′s Rewind collection is limited edition and is currently available at Sephora.  Video Killed the Radio Star is also available on Amazon.

  1. Luv the name of this polish, but it seems such a run of the mill blue, considering that Lippmann usually crafts such inspired shades. I’d wanna slap a silver micro-shimmer topcoat over this, to “fix” the crayola crayon flatness and knock down the brightness a bit while giving it some personality. No offense, Deb.

What do you think?
