Orly Saturated

Orly Saturated coverIt’s been a long time since I’ve been so taken with a nail polish. I realize that might sound kind of strange but this polish totally makes me swoon.

For summer 2014 Orly released a collection of 6 polishes called Baked. Orly makes this collection sound super fancy! The collection descriptions is as follows:

Infused with heat-treated pigments, specialty micas and minerals that deliver an ultra-smooth application and maximum color payoff PLUS Vitamins A, E and B5 to help nourish and protect nails.

Pretty fancy, right?

Of course I couldn’t resist Saturated. It’s a gorgeous deep purple jelly creme hybrid with blue undertones. So beautiful!

Orly classifies Saturated as a shimmer but seriously, there is no shimmer. Even when I zoomed in on the pictures I took of this polish in the sun; no shimmer! So I don’t know what’s up with that.

The formula is lovely. I used just two coats in my swatches. But, it does dry to a semi matte finish so a shiny top coat is required.

In the comments of my post on deborah lippmann Maniac we were talking about me doing a top 10 purple polish post. This would be an impossible task for me because that top 10 is ALWAYS changing but right now it’s Orly Saturated. 10 times. ALTHOUGH (see the problem?) Orly makes some amazing purple polishes. Including Bubbly Bombshell, Fowl Play and High on Hope.

The Orly Baked collection is currently available at Ulta and on Amazon.

Make sure to check out the swatches under the jump!

I’m loving this purple trend on this blog lately! 🙂
Though I have an issue with this sort of polish (is it just the purples? Or all these creme jelly hybrids? I only noticed it in such purples though..), that they tend to drag (or is that streak?) near the cuticle; sure, 2nd coat covers the tips well, but it still seems thinner by the cuticles (a “fine” example of it on your thumb pic – but that’s the key word here, pictures, it’s not as awful IRL, I suppose).
Phew.. anyway, yay purples! *\o/* 🙂

I know what you’re talking about. It’s only something I notice in pictures; to the naked eye it looks fine. Granted, a third coat may have solved the problem but why use 3 coats when you really only need 2!

Love purples, and I think I prefer a “crelly” creme/jelly hybrid to a plain ole’ creme… then I get into the “perfect purple” where it is not too dark to the point you can’t tell it’s just any color of dark polish…

I did check out all the linked posts..the Deborah Lippmann is fine, just kind of plain to me as a creme. I recently got Orly Fowl Play at Sally’s, I think during the April B2G1free promo…

Sometimes I get on purple polish kicks and there’s no stopping me!

I really like the “crelly” formulas as well. For some reason when a dark color like this is a crelly it makes it feel appropriate even for the warmer weather.
