Essie Chills & Thrills

Essie Chills & Thrills coverToday I have another polish from the 2014 Essie Too Taboo collection. I’m loving this collection! I just can’t get enough of neon polishes.

Essie describes Chills & Thrills as a supercharged blue violet. This polish does have blue undertones but it pulls mostly purple against my skintone. It’s a lovely color that was absolutely perfect for a Sunday manicure.

The formula is surprisingly good. Chills & Thrills is a neon but I only needed two coats to get an opaque, streak free color. This is not a neon I would use a white base with; there’s just no need!

Overall I’m really impressed with this polish. Not often do you find a neon polish with a fabulous formula. Plus, I loved the color so much I’ve already used it for a pedicure 🙂

Chills & Thrills is currently available on as well as Amazon. This polish is included in the mini set for this collection but I have to say I am not a fan of the mini set. It includes Chills & Thrills and Too Taboo from the neon collection but the other two polishes are Essie Blanc (just a plain, white creme) and essie Good to Go! top coat.

I see where Essie was going with the mini set. For many neons a white base can really make the color pop. Chills & Thrills doesn’t need a white base. And I’m sure they included the top coat because neons dry to a semi matte finish. While it’s a nice idea it’s just not something I would spend $17 on!

So far I’m loving this collection! In case you missed it I posted a review on I’m Addicted last week.

Make sure to check out the swatches under the jump!

  1. This is the only one I grabbed from this collection so far, good to hear you liked the formula. Nice swatch and pix…love the outdoor pic!!! Where is freaking spring??! 😀

  2. I’m also glad to hear about the formula since I’ve heard a few iffy comments about this collection. What a beautiful blue. I love blue polishes. How new jeans and flip flops…
Are those real trees? You have leaves? We still have snowbanks! Envy your pedi; nobody has seen my toes since last September!

  3. Great color! But it seems a little too normal to be called “Chills and thrills” in a Taboo collection. 😛
