Essie Truth or Flare

Essie Truth or Flare coverWhile I am ready for spring Mother Nature doesn’t seem very interested in leaving winter behind. At least here in Charlotte. But that isn’t stopping me from using polishes from spring polish collections!

For spring 2014 Essie released a 6 polish collection “dedicated to women everywhere who aren’t afraid to play – in life and in style.” I must admit Hide & Go Chic is a super clever name for a nail polish collection though I’m not sure I’d look at the offerings and think this collection was supposed to be playful.

Truth or Flare (another clever name!) is a slightly dusty pale blue creme. Essie describes it as a vintage blue denim. Regardless of which description you go with for some reason I don’t love this color blue but I can’t exactly put my finger on why. Regardless, it’s also not the most flattering blue for my particular skintone so I guess it’s good I don’t love the color!

Unfortunately, the formula isn’t great. I needed 3 (4 on some nails…) coats to get an even, opaque color.

As of yet I haven’t seen this collection in stores but it should be  popping up soon! Currently the Hide & Go Chic collection is available at as well as on Amazon.

Make sure to check out the swatches under the jump!

It’s a little too yellow/warm for my liking. But the color itself is really pretty 🙂

I absolutely love this colour! If I hadn’t franken a similar one last year, I would be frantic right now – that’s the blue of my dreams…!

Ah, lightish blues always look so peaceful… but this one looks too cool for my warm skin tone, and even if I had the right skin tone for it, personally I don’t think I’d wear this lovely color on my nails… use to paint a baby’s room in the 1950’s, if expecting a boy… maybe.

What do you think?
