It’s been far too long since I’ve worn an ORLY polish. When I saw the ORLY Galaxy FX for Spring 2014, I was immediately drawn to Starburst. Weird right? The more obvious “Katie” choice would have been Star Trooper. Maybe I’ve been spending too much time on Instagram drooling over milky glitters, but whatever the reason I knew I just had to have Starburst.
But here’s the thing… as much as I’m drawn to milky glitters, I can’t stand polishes that even border on being sheer. I don’t know why, but it’s just not me. SO, after looking at some other swatches of Starburst I decided to layer it over my favorite white: OPI Alpine Snow.
Starburst has red, gold, and bronze glitter set in a white base. There are larger silver glitter pieces, but they didn’t make it on the nail. Sad. For being relatively dense, the glitter was very easy to apply. I didn’t have to dab or dot or guide the glitter – it distributed itself perfectly all on its own – BIG thumbs up. I used two coats for my swatches so you could still get the jelly sandwich look that I think ORLY was going for.
Overall, I think this is a really fun polish. For me, the colors are a bit strange for spring – but that won’t stop me from wearing it. What do you think?
This polish is so fun that I have more than a handful of pictures below. Enjoy!
