Essie – Cocktails & Coconuts

Essie - Cocktails & CoconutsEvery year, right about this time – I end up in a bit of a funk. The weather is cold and grey and I’m ready to be spending lots of time outdoors in the sunshine. Well, I can’t control the weather but I can spice up my nails a bit and Essie’s Resort Collections always put me in a great mood. Perfect timing, Essie.

As I so often do, I ended up really wanting the more neutral shade: Cocktails and Coconuts. I absolutely needed Cocktails & Coconuts.  Essie describes it as subtle, shimmering warm sand. Perfect! The subtle shimmer that has become almost iconic to Essie polishes, is what makes this polish. It’s that subtle shimmer that makes this one a rock star. Another plus? My stately 87 year old grandmother gives it the thumbs up – and she is as chic and elegant as it comes.

I used three coats to get an even, streak free look. The formula leans every so slightly towards the thick side – but it made it very easy to work with.

When Alli & I first saw the promo pictures for the 2014 Resort Collection we were super excited. No, there’s nothing terrible earth shattering about the colors but we could not get over how well they ALL go together. Seriously. Mix and match them anyway you like and you’re going to end up with a perfectly coordinated look. Lucky for you, we are giving away a mini cube with all four polishes! You can check out the details here!

The Essie 2014 Resort polishes retail for is popping up at drugstores now – it’s also currently available on Amazon and The mini set for this collection includes all four polishes and is available from Amazon and Be sure to check out Alli’s reviews of Find me an Oasis and Under the Twilight. Resort Fling coming soon!

I really like it. It’s what I wanted Sand Tropez to be. That little shimmer makes a world of difference.

I’m wearing this one right now! I bought the mini cube because like you said, all the colors just go together so well and I couldn’t choose just one (or two!) to purchase. Very chic and looks great on you!

Thank you! I want an entire wardrobe of these colors! Who needs the pantone color of the year? Not me 🙂 I’m obsessed. I may have to get the mini cube myself…

It’s great, right? I love it too! I can’t wait to wear it in the summer when I’m not quite so pale!

What do you think?
