This all started several years ago when I decided to leave my natural medium blond hair for a more fun life as a brunette. I found I could get away with wearing bright lipstick (hello my obsession with MAC Morange and the matching nail polish!)! To say the least I never looked back.
So, I was really excited when I ran across the JulieG and Jesse’s Girl collaboration collection The Perfect Pair collection at Rite Aid. The collection consists of 3 nail polishes and 3 matching lipsticks. All are named after famous couples. The nail polishes are the men and the lipsticks are the women.
Of course I had to have all 3 sets. Anthony and Cleopatra is the lightest and most peach of the 3 sets. Romeo and Juliet is the most red and darkest of the 3 sets. That leaves Fred and Ginger which lands right in the middle.
The Fred and Ginger set is of course named for Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. And I have to say, I can totally see Ginger rocking this polish and lipstick combo.
Under the jump you will find swatches and reviews of both Fred and & Ginger.
Currently this collection is available in Rite Aid stores. For those of you who do not live near a Rite Aid this collection is also available on jessesgirlcosmetics.com. They have free US shipping on any order over $20 and do have international shipping as well.
JulieG Fred: Fred is a pink cream with slight peach undertones. I’m generally not a pink polish love but I adore this one. It’s quite flattering and really puts me in a springtime mood. Plus, it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day.
The formula was good. I did need three coats to even everything out. But the polish wasn’t difficult to work with.
As with all JulieG polishes I have tried (kind of a fan girl of the line…) I found Fred wore very well.
& Ginger: This is the first lipstick from Jesse’s Girl I have tried so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I do love the white packaging and the fact there is a clear section so you can see the lipstick color.
The first thing I noticed when I opened this lipstick was the smell. It has, for lack of a better way to describe it, cheap lipstick smell. But to be fair, this was an inexpensive lipstick at $3.99.
& Ginger applied beautifully. The formula is creamy and has a slight sheen to it on the lips. The color is a good color for me. While in the tube (and even just on white paper) this lipstick looks to be dead on color wise to the nail polish it does pull pretty pink on me.
The wear time is surprisingly good. As it fades it does fade evenly and leaves a stain behind on the lips.
Overall, I really like this lipstick. The only negative is the smell.
