Nail Art: Gold Polka Dot Fade

Gold Polka Dot Fade CoverIt’s pretty obvious by now I have a serious  thing for polka dot manicures. I’ve done tons of them. And I never get sick of them!

This manicure came about because I wanted to use OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. but did not want to use it as a full manicure. It’s not the most flattering color on me but I really do adore the finish.

So of course I turn to polka dots! I though the soft gold would look good over a dark gray so I used L’Oreal Elegance is Innate as my base color. Then I used different sized dotting tools (all DIY’d, by the way!) to make different sized dots. The largest dots are at the bottom and the smallest dots are towards the tip of the nail.

I really love the way this turned out. Alone, both colors are neutral and fairly safe. Together they still maintain their neutral status but become interesting and unique. I was wearing this manicure when I took my grandfather to lunch at the K&W cafeteria (he LOVES cafeterias!) and I got some many compliments on my manicure 🙂

There are swatches under the jump! Including a couple of pictures in the sun.
