About a month ago Bath & Body Works had a one day sale where all their candles were $8. I freaking LOVE Bath & Body Works candles so I went to stock up. I just happened to post a picture while I was at B&BW on TDV Instagram and mrsmanpolish, who is a long time reader, was singing the praises of Party Dress. I gave Party Dress another sniff and decided I had to have it. Honestly, the candle smells like a perfume I would wear. B&BW describes the scent as “an unforgettable blend of orchid petals, billowing white peony and soft jasmine that’s fitting for any celebration.” Seriously, I love their descriptions!
But anyway, this is not a post about candles! The packaging of the Party Dress candle is what inspired this manicure. The candle itself is a deep, plum purple and the label has metallic geometric shapes. I wanted to create a similar look in manicure form.
I used Essie Damsel in a Dress as a base. I let that dry completely then used scotch tape to create a triangle that I filled in with just one coat of OPI Push and Shove (pro tip: make sure to remove the tape immediately to create sharper lines). After letting Push and Shove dry I topped the design with China Glaze No-Chip Top Coat.
This manicure turned out really well (and it even matched one of my favorite rings!). I only did the silver on one nail so it wasn’t overwhelming but it was still eye catching. Just goes to show inspiration can literally come from anywhere!
There are all kinds of swatches under the jump!
