PISTOL polish January 2014 CoverYay! My first PISTOL polish duo of 2014! And I have to say….this may be my favorite yet.

This duo actually arrived before the New Year. It was a nice little surprise and eased my post Ihavenomorepresents Christmas blues.

When I opened this month’s box I knew I was going to love Blue Bonnie. It is right up my alley AND it’s a jelly. AMAZING. I was a little less sure about Bonus Season. I told Katie that I thought it looked like a better version of OPI Metallic 4 Life. I’m happy to report it’s a MUCH better version of that polish and I do quite like it.

For more info on PISTOL polish check out their website. If  you are a fellow Charlottean PISTOL polish can be found at The Boulevard at South End.

Below the jump are swatches and reviews of both polishes. (PS: these polishes look fab together as well as on their own!)

Blue Bonnie: Honestly, I absolutely ADORE this nail polish. As soon as I saw it int he bottle I could not wait to get it on my nails! Blue Bonnie is a bright cobalt blue jelly that applies beautifully in three coats. The jelly finish is perfect and dries to a super shiny finish. Plus, the wear time is AMAZING. This is definitely in the running for my favorite blue nail polish in this color range.

Bonus Season: I’ll admit this looks a tad bit ugly in the bottle. But it looks fabulous on the nails! Bonus season has large silver glitter and smaller yellow gold glitter suspended in a sheer(ish) black jelly base. I did use three coats in my swatches and I know this will make some people cringe but the end result is TOTALLY worth it.

The blue is too brightly blue for me, but does look great with your skin tone. Pistol is fabulous, but I will resist putting it on my wish list only because I think I might be able to get the same effect using a brown-black w/gold shimmer polish that I already have (“Coal” by CK1) and a silver glitter topcoat… at any rate, it’s worth a try!
