Sally Hansen Triple Shine – Sparks Fly

Sally Hansen - Sparks FlyOkay, no joke – I hate cold weather. A lot. Snow days are great, but otherwise… Winter just isn’t my thing. Normally on a day like today I’d go with a bright warm color, but I decided to embrace the deep freeze with a wintery mani.

I had been eyeing Sparks Fly from Sally Hansen’s new Triple Shine line for a little while, so I was SO excited when it arrived in my Influenster Violet VoxBox for review. Seriously, how lucky am I?

Sparks Fly is beautiful. It has multi-sized silver glitter set in a blue base. My initial reaction, though, was: Uhh what’s the point? Why not just set the glitter in a clear base? I guess the benefit is that when you apply a second (or third) coat – some of the glitter takes on that blue look and the overall effect is quite stunning.

For my wintery mix mani, I layered two coats of sparks fly over two coats of Lex Cosmetics Seattle Sunshine. I am SO Happy with the finished look. I got loads of compliments on it yesterday.

The biggest challenge was making sure that I applied Sparks Fly evenly, I ended up with some blue streaks – it got better with the second coat. I can’t wait to try this over some darker blue polishes and maybe even black.

  1. To me this polish looks pretty tacky in the bottle, but on your nails it actually looks quite pretty! Yes, great for a snowy day but I coukd see this for a summer evening too.

What do you think?
