I love looking back over the year and picking my favorite polishes released in 2013. Of course, I always have a difficult time settling on just 10. I started out with 18 contenders but did manage to dwindle it down to 10.
The biggest surprise about this year’s list is the lack of OPI. Not a single OPI polish made the cut (though OPI Eurso….Euro was on the short list). Equally surprising is that China Glaze is the only brand with 2 polishes on my list.
Make sure to leave some of your favorite polishes of the past year in a comment 🙂
deborah lippmann Pseudo Silk Kimono: This polish was a shoe in for my top 10. I love almost white polishes and the semi matte finish, or silk finish, of this polish makes it entirely unique and perfectly chic. Not only do I wear this on my own it is surprisingly useful in nail art. My favorite being a Venessa Hudgens inspired manicure.
Lex Cosmetics Dying Embers: I have such a soft spot for Lex Cosmetics. It’s a great company that not only makes great nail polishes but gives back as well. I was really excited when Dying Embers came out. It’s completely different from anything in my collection and it did not disappoint on the nail. I like that it’s versatile. Dying Embers can be worn on its own but it can also be used as a topper over darker polishes.
China Glaze Dandy Lyin’ Around: Hmmm….the second almost white polish on my list! Honestly, I thought I was going to hate this polish. I almost didn’t even order it. Perhaps the stars intervened to change my mind because I absolutely ADORE this polish. I don’t like wearing just a plain white creme. It’s great for nail art but can be stark and a bit dull as a full mani. Dandy Lyin’ Around has a the slightest shimmer and a bit of a dusty undertone that makes it the perfect not quite white manicure.
Essie Avenue Maintain: The perfect Parisian blue in nail polish form was obviously going to be on my list! I adore Paris. And blue nail polish. So to say the least, Avenue Maintain was a perfect store. Added bonus: the formula is amazing.
Orly High on Hope: This was a seriously overlooked polish this year. High on Hope is so unique and right up my alley. It’s dark purple, smokey and shifts colors. All at the same time!
JulieG Blueberry Fizz: No top 10 polish list for 2013 is really complete without a textured polish. Almost everyone ventured into textured polishes this year. But I have to say, JulieG easily makes my favorite textured polishes and Blueberry Fizz was my favorite textured polish release this year. I mean, it’s light blue and silver. 2 of my favorite things!
China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle: This was my favorite summer release. I have a serious obsession with neons (it’s a borderline addiction). This one is great because while it’s bright and is a neon it’s not your typical yellow or pink. My go to 2013 summer polish had to be on my list!
NCLA Sugar Fix: NCLA is a brand I discovered this year. And while they have amazing nail wraps, I have to say I prefer their polishes. Sugar Fix is a more spring/summer appropriate version of Lex Cosmetics Dying Embers. I love the purple and blue glitter in the gray jelly base. It’s unique in my collection and even works great as a top coat.
PISTOL polish Riots, Not Diets: PISTOL polish is another brand I discovered in 2013. This one holds a special place in my heart because the company is located in my home town. Riots, Not Diets is more or less my perfect polish. I love deep purple polishes and this one I especially like because the shimmer really stands out.
Avon Royal Vendetta: I have to admit, Avon really surprised me with this polish! Royal Vendetta is gorgeous and spent multiple months as my only pedicure color. Due to that, this is definitely my most used polish of 2013.
