Sally Hansen Midnight Glitz

Sally Hansen Midnight Glitz coverI want to thank the nail polish gods for blessing the world with this nail polish. This is what I wanted the disaster that is Essie Belugaria to be.

It’s no secret I kind of have a thing for black glitter. Seriously, if there’s a speck of black glitter in a nail polish, I must have it. But it’s really hard to find black glitter, especially in drugstore polish lines. Wet n Wild put out a limited edition polish (Tangled In My Web) that was just black glitter and Spoiled Trust Fund Baby has some black glitter. But that’s really about it at the drugstore.

For this holiday season Sally Hansen released 2 different collections of glitter polishes; Signed, Sealed and Sequined and Bling In The New Year. Midnight Glitz is from the Bling In The New Year collection and might be my favorite glitter released this year. Seriously.

Midnight Glitz has small and large black and gold, holographic glitter suspended in a clear base.

The formula is great as far as glitter polishes go. I used 2 coats in all my swatches and the glitter deposited evenly on the nail and laid flat without any help.

Yes, I liked Fa La La Lavender from this collection, but not near as much as I love Midnight Glitz! I used Midnight Glitz over a plain black polish (JulieG Black Sheep) and a plain white polish (Ulta Snow White). I particularly like Midnight Glitz over white. I got so many compliments on my manicure! One man even called it fancy.

If you couldn’t tell from this post I’m a bit obsessed with Midnight Glitz. I’ve already used it in another manicure that I can’t wait to share! (If you’re the cheating type you can get a preview of that mani over on TDV Twitter).

I’ve seen the display for the Bling In The New Year collection several places. Important to note the display has a buy one get one free coupon attached to it!

Why did you apply it over black polish?
    I don’t know, I like the golden glitter better…

Wanted to try a more subtle look with the glitter.

You gotta love black glitter to appreciate this polish!

I like this a lot. Dusty pastel pink or a mint base would look kind of like the asian inspired patterns on fans and screens. Very flexible polish!

That would be really pretty! Especially in the spring.

What do you think?
