Zoya Codie

Zoya Codie BottleZoya isn’t a brand I pay much attention too. And that has nothing to do with the quality of Zoya polishes. The ones I have tried I quite like. The brand generally just doesn’t excite me.

This polish landed on my doorstep via my fellow TDVer, Katie. She sent it to me along with some other fun polishes. I was in a dark nail polish mood the other day and decided to finally give Codie a try.

Zoya describes Codie as a “blackened espresso brown creme with subtle olive undertones.” That’s a pretty accurate description though against my skintone I found Codie looked more olive green than brown.

That being said, in most lights I found Codie to look basically black though slightly less harsh than straight black. You can really tell in this picture where I used Codie as a base. Looks black, right?

The formula was fine though I did need three coats to cover all the bald spots.

While I don’t dislike this polish by any means I do find it to be quite average. Especially at $8 a bottle.

Codie is available on Zoya’s website.

There are swatches under the jump!

  1. I love Zoya but it’s definitely their shimmers or glitters that are worth the money. Apple, Rina and Holly are gorgeous (I love greens) and Purity/Raven are also incredible one coat white/blacks! x x x

  2. Dark polishes are decidedly not my favourites. Some, like this one, are so very dark they could be any colour between black/brown/green/blue/grey; I just don’t find it interesting. Not to mention that removing it is likely to be a nightmare…

What do you think?
