Before I went out of town I scheduled plenty of posts but I have been gone for about a week. It’s good to be back! But my nails definitely suffered when I was gone.
After some SERIOUS nail rehab I finally got around to trying Ignite the Night. I’ve had this polish for a while (I got it at the same time as the ever so dreadful Essie Belugaria) but in the bottle it just didn’t look that exciting. Well, once I got it on my nails it became exciting!
Essie describes Ignite the Night as a sparkling hematite nail lacquer with a superfine matte finish. While I think hematite is the perfect way to describe the color of this polish I would not call it matte. Ignite the Night is small, dense silver and golden glitter suspended in a clear base.
While the glitter is dense (I used 3 coats in my swatches) the formula is wonderful. The glitter lays down flat on the nail and it’s easy to apply thin coats.
I’m not sure why Essie says this is a matte finish polish. I didn’t use a top coat in any of my swatches and it looks like a normal glitter to me! Perhaps I’m missing something?
There are swatches under the jump! (Make sure to check out the MACRO shot…it’s gorgeous.)
