This is the kind of polish that generally makes me run for the hills. Furry looking nails really aren’t my thing. And even if they were, I’d go the way of a velvet manicure instead of bar glitter. But how could I resist the prospect of trying an Essie polish that has bar glitter? My curiosity got the best of me!
Essie describes this polish as an “alpine white holographic rainbow fringe.” Seriously, I had to see a polish with that description in action!
Peak of Chic is matte white bar glitter mixed with more sparse silver holographic bar glitter suspended in a clear base. It’s an interesting concept. And truthfully, I don’t hate it.
The formula is easy to work with. I used one coat of Peak of Chic in all my swatches. I had no problems with the bar glitter sitting flat on the nail nor was the glitter clumpy or hard to get a smooth coat. I did have to use a top coat over Peak of Chic to keep the bar glitter from curling.
I’m not exactly sure how much use I’m going to get out of this polish. Like I said, I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. And I’m not sold on using this over a dark base. But hey, worst case scenario, it’s a better snow looking polish than the disaster that was China Glaze There’s Snow One Like You! Perhaps it has some nail art potential…
