PISTOL polish November 2013: Big Bang & Bite the Bullet

PISTOL polish November 2013As much as I look forward to my monthly PISTOL polish box I always forget about it! Due to that, the duo arriving on the 1st of every month always turns into a nice surprise that definitely brightens my day.

Both the September and October duos were channeling fall, but the November duo is moving into winter.

While I was a bit disappointed in Big Bang, I fell in love with Bite the Bullet.

There are, of course, full reviews of both of these polishes under the jump.

Big Bang: I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed in a polish from PISTOL polish. Let me explain…

I love white polish in winter. It’s chic and it’s clean. And while there is nothing wrong with Big Bang, it’s a plain white creme, it’s just not special. My favorite white, Ulta Snow White, only requires 2 coats while Big Bang requires 3. Snow White is also less expensive. So even from a nail art perspective, Big Bang is not the best option.

If I’m going to wear a white polish by itself I want it to be a bit special. Think China Glaze Dandy Lyin’ Around.

I ended up using Big Bang as a base for a different manicure (I topped it with essie Peak of Chic).

Bite The Bullet: I am completely not disappointed with this polish!

According to PISTOL polish Bite the Bullet was inspired by misty fall mornings along the coast. I can totally see that in this polish.

Bite the Bullet is a lovely dusty teal blue with gray undertones. It’s a great color to transition from fall into winter.

The formula is lovely. I used just two coats in my swatches.

I really love this color. I even wore it to a night out at the symphony!
