I was pleasantly surprised when I received this month’s duo to find no orange or black! Instead the duo included an unexpected foil and a deep, rich brown.
As usual, I ended up liking both of this polishes quite a bit. Like A Boss is a fabulous year around color and Helen Gurley Brown is a perfect yet unexpected color for fall manicures.
There are full reviews of both polishes below the jump.
Like A Boss: When I first saw Like A Boss I was intrigued by it. I have nothing like it in my collection and I’m not sure I’ve ever even seen a polish like it.
PISTOL polish describes Like A Boss as a “sparkle packed dusty rose.” I’m not so sure about rose. Or even dusty. It appears to me to be a light purple leaning metallic pale pink (aka raspberry). However it is described Like A Boss is gorgeous and a completely unexpected color for fall. I really enjoyed wearing this polish and even added some glitter the second time around.
The formula is amazing. I used just two coats in my swatches.
Like A Boss is one of those polishes that can act almost as a neutral and is even appropriate in conservative work environments. Plus, it’s a no fail, go to year around color. When it doubt, wear Like A Boss!
Helen Gurley Brown: This polish was just good timing. Ever since I wore OPI It’s Totally Fort Worth It I had been thinking about OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys. Then my nail polish addict brain starting thinking about the brown polishes I had in my collections. If craving a manicure is a thing I was definitely craving a chocolate brown manicure. But Suzi Loves Cowboys was too dark and OPI Espresso Your Style was too shimmery. Then Helen Gurley Brown arrived in my mailbox. It completely cured my craving!
PISTOL polish describes this polish perfectly. It’s a milk chocolate jelly creme hybrid. It’s gorgeous. And because it has a bit of a jelly feel it dries super shiny.
This is a great color for fall and a perfect alternative for the more expected black or navy manicure. I give Helen Gurley Brown two thumbs up.
