OPI Russian Navy

OPI Russian NavyClearly I’m attempting to make fall weather happen here in Charlotte by wearing fall colors on my nails. So far, my strategy isn’t working. But I still have hope!

This polish and I go way back. And by way back I mean fall of 2007 when OPI released the Russian collection. To date the Russian collection is still one of my all time favorite OPI collections. Lucky for me, Russian Navy is one of those polishes that never really goes out of style. This fall jewel tones are a huge trend (again) so I have even more of an excuse to rock one of my all time favorite polishes.

Russian Navy is a deep, blackened blue packed with red and blue shimmer. The red shimmer can make this polish look almost purple in some lights (and to some extent in the bottle). In dim lighting this polish can appear to be black. Though I do find since it’s not black it has a much less harsh appearance. Especially against my super pale skin!

The formula is wonderful. I used just two coats in my swatches.

I love rediscovering old favorites! Especially when they’re perfectly on trend. OPI did add this to their permanent line (thank goodness!) so it’s easily found wherever OPI is sold as well as online at drugstore.com and Amazon.

Below the jump are a slew of swatches including an old (read short nails) swatch in the sun.

PS: Russian Navy is also available in GelColor.

  1. I forgot how beautiful this one was. I also forgot I had it stored with my purples. I am moving it to the dark blues right now. I’m trying to work out a 9-11 remembrance day nail so maybe I can use incorporate this color. It would make a beautiful base.

  2. Really lovely; nobody does rich dark hues like OPI. This would be particularly nice as a gradient with a good silver polish; say for the first snowfall?

(Quietly backing away from that thought)

      1. Aren’t we all? In Paris it was so warm these past months it was hard to sleep – all summer long! Now it’s down to 15C, I can sleep again – bliss! 🙂
