It’s been very warm here. And while it’s been quite humid (it is the South in late summer, after all) we haven’t been getting much rain. It’s the kind of weather that makes me want to stroll through the backyard with a pink lemonade.
Anyway, back to reality, I was looking through some of my spring and summer polishes I still hadn’t gotten around to trying and Not a Cloud in Sight stood out.
By the time I found the display for L’Oreal’s Spring/Summer 2013 Trendsetter collection in my local CVS Not a Cloud in Sight was already sold out! This was the polish I was most excited about from the collection so I ended up ordering it from drugstore.com along with Orange You Jealous?.
Not a Cloud in Sight is a lovely medium blue leaning turquoise creme. It’s a very Alli color. And a perfect transition color into fall. It’s still a fun, summery color but not bright and in your face,
The formula was pretty good. I did use three coats in my swatches as I had a few bald spots after two coats.
As I was wore this polish I became convinced I had a dupe for it in my collection. I started looking through my Melmer and I did find one. Ironically enough, also from L’Oreal.
You may or may not remember way back in the Summer of 2010 when L’Oreal released their Passport to Paradise collection. It was all the rage, let me tell you. And as it seems with anything that’s super popular, the collection was quite difficult to find. As it turns out, Not a Cloud in Sight is a dead on dupe of Waters Edge from the Passport to Paradise collection. Waters Edge is, of course, impossible to find nowadays, but because the Passport to Paradise collection was so popular I figured alot of y’all already had Waters Edge in your collection. If that’s the case, definitely pass on Not a Cloud in Sight.
Anyway, I do really love this polish. I wore it for a couple days then added an accent nail. I was browsing HauteLook one evening (shocker) and I was very taken with a particular ring. You can see the ring here. I’m a silver girl so I decided not to order the ring but I loved the design. I used the ring as inspiration for the design on my ring finger. I drew the design with the angle brush from my nail art brush set and used China Glaze Gossip Over Gimlets.
So, below the jump you will find swatches of Not a Cloud in Sight, a comparison between Not a Cloud in Sight and Waters Edge as well as swatches of my manicure with the fun accent nail design.
