It’s that time again! Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend and while I’m not all that excited about the teams in the Super Bowl this year I never pass up an opportunity to rock some event appropriate nail art!
Below the jump there are more than a few ideas for some football themed nail art. Including manicures for both the Ravens and 49ers.
Make sure to leave who you are cheering for and what kind of manicure you’re going to rock in a comment. I’m rooting for San Francisco this year for one reason; Carlos Rogers. We were in school at Auburn at the same time and I’d love for him to win a Super Bowl!
AstroTurf: This is definitely taking the whole football thing very literally. I did a DIY Velvet Manicure using green flocking powder to mimic the football field then added a football on one nail for good measure.
Football Tips: This isn’t quite as out there as the AstoTurf manicure but still right on theme. Color Club Charity Ball is the perfect football colored nail polish!
Team Colors: The colors of this manicure won’t work for the Super Bowl (I did this for a Panthers game!) but the idea is perfect. This is also a slightly easier way to do a football nail.
Acid Wash: I’m a big fan of the acid wash manicure. So for this manicure I used the acid wash nail art method and used Auburn appropriate colors. This will, of course, work for either of the teams playing in this year’s Super Bowl. The key is to use the darker color as the base. For a full tutorial on doing acid wash manicures click here.
Polka Dots: My obsession with polka dots is well documented but I think this is a fun way to show support for your team. I did this manicure in Baltimore Ravens colors using China Glaze Grape Pop, OPI Light My Sapphire, Ulta Snow White and OPI GoldenEye.
Chanel Meets Team Colors: I absolutely loved it when Chanel showed nail art at one of their runway shows. I took that idea and incorporated the San Francisco 49ers colors using Layla Oh My Red and Cover Girl Golden Opportunity. I love the way this turned out! It’s chic and elegant yet properly themed all at the same time 🙂
