Election Day Nails!

Happy Election Day! I’ve already voted and hope you did too! If not – there’s still time so stop reading this and get out there and cast your ballot!

Last night I started thinking about what to do for my Election Day 2012 mani. I used Alli’s post for ideas and decided I wanted to mimic her patriotic polka dots. I started off using similar colors as her original manicure but then decided I wanted to amp it up a little and make it a little edgy. I decided a metallic patriotic polka dot look was exactly what I was looking for!

The polishes I used were OPI’s Ali’s Big Break, China Glaze’s Frostbite, and Wet n Wild’s Silvivor. Silvivor and Frostbite both have a metallic/foil finish, while Ali’s Big Break is a lovely glittery jelly! While Alli has perfected the DIY dotting tool – I used my ORLY dotting tool that I picked up at ULTA about a year ago.

Happy Election Day!

As a special guest I have Alli’s Election Day Mani too! She posed with her I Voted sticker – I lost mine by the time I got to my car – boo! She used my all time favorite drug store red: Wet n Wild Red Red and a big lemming of mine: L’Oreal Jet Set to Paris. For the accent nail she used Essie No Place Like Chrome topped with Love & Beauty Tinsel Town. The vote box took center stage in her Rock the Vote Manicure.

She used If you did something special with your nails today we’d love to see it! Tweet the picture to @TheDailyVarnish or link it in a comment below!

Update: A reader requested a picture of my ORLY Dotter Duo tool. Here she is!

  1. Liked both of these first time I saw you do them. I can see using the first one here for any red/white/blue holiday theme despite it’s a silver background and not white. It looks very chic with the silver vs. a more expected white for a base shade. Great work as usual!

    1. Thank you so much! They’ve been a lot of fun for me! I’m slowly learning to love nail art type things – I’m more of a one color traditional girl – but these were just SO much fun to look at!

What do you think?
