Since I just received my (incorrect – more on that below) Julep Maven Box for February, I wanted to go ahead and give you all a run down of January’s Maven Box and share my experience so far.
When I saw the promo code for an introductory box for just .01 – I really couldn’t pass up trying Julep any longer. So I went ahead and took the style quiz – turns out my style is American Beauty – and set up an account & submitted my order.
The products were wrapped nicely inside the box – there’s something so fun about getting packages and opening them to find goodies! I received two nail polishes: Anne (described as an ultra saturated violet) & Maria (described as a shimmering platinum rose) – I’ve worn both since and like them both – swatches and a more detailed review to come! I also received a full size Age Defying Hand Brightner – which I’ve been using & will review at a later date. There was also a sample sized hand cream (SPF30) which I haven’t tried yet.
I really am very happy with the products I received – and all for a penny! If you’d like to read my rather lengthy review of my experience with the company to date – read on – if not, have a fantastic Wednesday!
A few days after signing up for my Maven Box (January 16th) I received an email that stating, “While we are excited that you love our Maven program, unfortunately only one discounted Maven box is allowed per household…” and that my second box would be canceled. Hold up! I never ordered a second box – so I responded to the email stating as much and hoped to hear back – I never did.
I noticed a few days later (January 21st) that all of my account options had disappeared – so I called Julep. The girl I spoke with was very nice, but said she couldn’t help me but that I would receive a phone call by the end of the day – I never did. She did however say that it was a computer error because someone else with my name also ordered a box. Well…
I called again on the 24th and finally received a call back that evening – The girl I spoke with could not have been nicer and did straighten everything out. So 8 days after the initial email and two phone calls later…everything was as it should be.
Now, I don’t want to be too harsh, I understand offering such an awesome deal is going to cause a huge influx of orders – and I suspect this is what happened. However, maybe it’s worth double checking before cancelling someones account? Lots of people have the same name – there are 100’s of girls on Facebook with my name. My other disappointment was not getting a call back when I was promised one on January 21st – I wouldn’t have minded if they’d asked me to call back or said they’d get back to me in a few days…
Have no fear – I do have some good things to say. For my February box I submitted a request to change my box from American Beauty to It Girl. Well, I got an email on the 30th stating that there was a computer error for those who requested a change on the 24th (me!) the change had not been processed and the original box had been sent. HOWEVER – they were very proactive and had already processed the correct boxes to be sent – excellent customer service on that one.
It’s for this reason that I’m going to give it a few more months. Perhaps my experience was isolated, but Alli & I always want to share our honest and for a few days I was really frustrated.
So, if you’ve tried out Julep Maven – what was your experience? I know a few of you signed up via my referral link so I’d love to hear your thoughts – what do you think of the products? If you’d like to try it out – you can use my referral link here.
Also, in case anyone is still reading – the fact that I am getting two February boxes means I’ll have two bottles of Oscar – one is going to be up for a giveaway in time for you to wear it for well… The Oscars! Details to come 🙂
