OPI Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow SUEDE and Revlon Emerald City are both matte finish deep green shimmers released in the Fall of 2010. Honestly, the two polishes are very similar. If not for the slight difference in finish I think they would be exact dupes.
Emerald City is what Revlon calls a “matte suede” finish. It has a bit of shine to it whereas OPI’s suede polishes are completely matte. Due to this it’s easy to see the difference between the two polishes. But the difference looks to be only in the finish.
I decided to try adding a matte top coat to Revlon Emerald City (I used Essie Matte About You) and it did slightly alter the color of the polish. With the matte top coat Emerald City appears to be darker than Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow SUEDE.
So no, these polishes are not exact dupes. But, I see zero reason to own both (I quite honestly have no idea why I even own both). As far as formula and wear, they are about the same. Emerald City has a slightly thicker formula, but both apply very easily and wear very poorly (stupid matte finish polishes!).
I’ve only see an OPI Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow SUEDE display at BeautyBrands. I have not seen it at either Ulta I frequent (Katie has also not seen it at Ulta or Trade Secret). I’ve seen the Revlon Suede Rhapsody display at most drugstores as well as Ulta. OPI retails for $8.50, Revlon for $3.99 (though I got it for $.99 on sale). That was a REALLY long winded way to say the Revlon is more readily available and cheaper 🙂
I hope this post helps someone (anyone!). I know I’ve been looking forward to the suede version of Here Today…Aragon Tomorrow since OPI announced they were releasing it. So if you’re like me and can’t find and/or want a cheaper alternative keep your eyes out for Revlon Emerald City. Each Suede Rhapsody display has 2 bottles of Emerald City.
