Orly Viridian Vinyl

Orly Viridian VinylI was really excited for the new Orly Plastix collection. So naturally when I spotted the collection at Ulta I had to pick up at least one polish. I debated between Viridian Vinyl and Purple Pleather and finally settled on Viridian Vinyl.

Viridian Vinyl is a teal creme. The color is almost an exact dupe of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Fairy Teal (I still hate that polish!). The color is great, but the finish is what is supposed to be so unique about this collection. I would say my picture is pretty accurate when it comes to the finish. It’s not a matte finish, but not a shiny finish either (I obviously did not use a top coat).

Application was interesting. This polish is a little on the thick side. 2 coats was more than enough to get opaque coverage, but I did have some problems with bubbling. I used Orly Top 2 Bottom base coat and no top coat.

As far as the finish of this polish being unique…I don’t really think so. When I use Essie Matte About You over a creme it looks like that after a day of wear. That being said, I’m glad I own at least one polish from this collection. I like the finish.

As with matte polishes, the wear with this polish isn’t great. I had a significant chip on my pinky finger after just a day of wear.

    1. I’m pretty sure the press release for this collection said it would be out in July. But alas, Ulta is already selling it 🙂

    1. Wow, watery? Mine was on the thick side. How odd.

And yeah, I fail to see anything plastic about the finish. It really just looks like a day old matte finish. Nothing revolutionary there!

What do you think?
