Glitter fun with OPI Stars in my Eyes

Just about everytime I do a post about a glitter polish I say I want to try it over OPI Stars in my Eyes so…I decided to try all of my glitters over Stars in my Eyes.

The glitters I used are as follows: Wet n Wild Glitz, Sephora by OPI Too Good for Him, OPI Absolutely Alice, Ulta After Party and Forever 21 Love & Beauty Tinsel Town.

Winner: Love & Beauty Tinsel Town. This polish looked amazing over Stars in my Eyes. I don’t think the picture does it justice. It takes Stars in my Eyes to an entirely new blingly level.

Runner Up: Ulta After Party. The silver base added alot to this color. After Party already has silver glitter in it (along with gold and red glitter) and adding a silver base looks great.

The just oks: Sephora by OPI Too Good for Him and Wet m Wild Glitz. These glitter are essentially the same idea. Purple-ish glitter suspended in a clear base, so the result of using a silver base was the same. Just ok. I don’t love the look, but I don’t hate it. Too Good for Him definitely looked better over OPI Done Out in Deco (to see that combo click here).

The loser: OPI Absolutely Alice. This surprised me. When I used Absolutely Alice alone it took several coats to get an opaque color. But just one coat on top of Stars in my Eyes completely covered the silver base. I’m not sure if Absolutely Alice just isn’t a good layering polish or if it needs to be layered over something with a stronger color. I guess I’ll be testing that out in the future!

Well, that was something a little different. But I’m glad I tested out these glitters before I changed my manicure. Now I know which ones to use in the future 🙂

So what do you think? Do you agree with my assessment? Have any suggestions on what to use under OPI Absolutely Alice?

Happy Tuesday!
