Essence colour & go Underwater

Essence UnderwaterI am so impressed with this nail polish! I was excited when I spotted an Essence display at one of the Ulta’s near me. To my delight each nail polish was only $.99 so I picked up 5 bottles; Underwater, Pool Party, Break Through, Plum Perfect and Go Wild. All are shades of purple and blue. Shocking, I know.

Underwater is a beautiful deep blue shimmer. It most lights the shimmer isn’t noticable. But in bright light it really comes out. As for the name, this blue doesn’t remind me of any ocean I’ve ever seen. Maybe, just maybe, the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Anyway…application of this polish was a dream! On the bottle it states “nail polish with flat brush for a smooth and easy application.” They didn’t lie about that!

Essence brush and bottleThe brush is wide. Not quite as wide (and certainly not as full) as OPI’s ProWide Brush or Sally Hansen brushes, but still wider than your average brush. The brush was easy to control and applied the polish with no streaking.

Underwater is fairly opaque, though it took me three coats to get even coverage.

The bottle also claims this is a quick drying nail polish. I don’t know about the 1 second per nail claim, but it does dry very quickly to a glossy finish. (I did use a top coat in my pictures)

Not only am I impressed with the brush and application of this polish, I am also impressed by the wear. I washed dishes, and scrubbed and went shopping and tried on clothes without getting a single chip. Not bad for a polish that costs less than a dollar!

I can’t wait to try the rest of the colors I picked up 🙂

Happy Hump Day!
